Edwards jumps to NCAA all-America at indoor championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Oglethorpe sophomore Keri Edwards made Stormy Petrel history by becoming the women's track & field team's first ever all-American when she placed 12th in the triple jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships Saturday afternoon at Birmingham CrossPlex. Edwards posted a mark of 11.56 meters which placed her on the NCAA all-America second team.

Edwards, who entered the meet seeded No. 18 nationally, moved up six spots to become the first female all-American in the history of Oglethorpe cross country/track & field. She follows Ashton Deriso, an all-American in the indoor 800 meters in 2025, as the second all-American in the history of the men's/women's program.

Edwards posted a solid jump of 11.06 meters on her first attempt, enough for 12th overall after the first jump. She jumped 11.22 meters on her second attempt before finishing with her best mark of 11.56 meters on her final jump.

Edwards became the seventh individual national qualifier in the history of Oglethorpe's women's track & field program, the sixth since 2014 and the first since 2019 when she secured her qualifying mark at the Southern Athletic Association Championships in February. She leapt an Oglethorpe record 11.74 meters and landed on the all-SAA team for the second straight year.

Edwards will jump back into action during outdoor season which continues through the remainder of the spring. Up next for Oglethorpe is the Emory Thrills in the Hills meet, set for Friday-Saturday, March 20-21, in Atlanta.
