The Oglethorpe men's basketball team lost to Chapman in Los Angeles, Calif. on Saturday, 60-57. The No. 23 ranked Chapman squad held off a late Petrels rally to earn the win.

The Petrels only made 8 of 23 shots in the first half and trailed the D3hoops.com No. 24 ranked team in the country 32-21 at the half. Oglethorpe still trailed Chapman 52-41 with 7:34 to play in the game before a 14-4 run capped by a Christian Molinet jumper with 2:09 remaining cut the lead to one at 56-55.

Chapman converted two free throws on their next possession and then forced a Petrel turnover with less than 30 seconds to play to hold on for the win.

Todd Ward led Oglethorpe with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Alec Pitts notched 11 points and Alex Richey scored 8 to go along with 7 rebounds in the loss.

Oglethorpe is now 5-4 on the season and will close out non-conference play on Sunday afternoon at La Verne in Los Angeles.
