Williams, Wilson honored with SAA postseason awards

ATLANTA—Senior Emma Williams and sophomore Kinsey Wilson of Oglethorpe's volleyball team have been selected as Southern Athletic Association All-Conference honorees. Williams and Wilson played a key part of the Stormy Petrels' success this season and were named to the second team for their efforts.

It was fitting that Williams and Wilson together swept the SAA weekly award during the last week of the season, as they led Oglethorpe to a strong finish featuring four straight wins. Three of those four wins came in conference play and two of them happened by way of a reverse sweep.

Williams eclipsed 1,000 career assists early in the season prior to finishing with 315. This came alongside 194 kills and 19 service aces. She tallied three triple-doubles on the year, including two during that final stretch of what would be her last matches as a Petrel.

Williams indeed did it all for Oglethorpe, also finishing with 162 digs and 89 total blocks.

Wilson joined Williams on many of those blocks, tallying 124 of her own. Fifteen were solo blocks, both numbers leading the team by a wide margin. Wilson also recorded 134 kills and four aces.

The Stormy Petrels started and finished the season well. Prior to their aforementioned four-game winning streak to end the regular season, they won five of their first seven. This included a successful home-opening tournament where they posted three sweeps in three matches. They finished the season 10-15 overall.
