Men's Basketball Story by Abby Wheeler

High scoring games bring SAA honors for Dooley

ATLANTA- In a two-road game series against LeTourneau and Covenant over the weekend, senior Malachi Dooley led the Oglethorpe men's basketball team in scoring and tallied back-to-back double-doubles. He finished the week with a career high 31 points and a huge win versus Covenant to propel him to be named Southern Athletic Association athlete of the week.

Dooley began the weekend versus LeTourneau where he was perfect from the free throw line going 4/4, led the team off the glass with 10 rebounds, and posted 18 points. This is a classic stat line for Dooley; a dynamic offense to lead the team, critical rebounds, and consistency from the free throw line.

These stats were present again in an in-state rivalry game versus the Covenant Scots. Dooley heated up and rose to the occasion, tallying 31 points to lead all scorers. The team scored 14 second-chance points with the help from Dooley's rebounds and contributed heavily to the team going 56% from the field by draining 12/18 himself. With six assists and two steals, Dooley's ability to be a playmaker is not questioned. These efforts allowed the Stormy Petrels to run away with a 108-91 victory, the team's fourth win in a row against the Scots.

Dooley and the Petrels open their slate of home games Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 5 p.m.
