Women's basketball 2025-26 season preview

ATLANTA – Head Coach Jasen Jonus returns for his second season with the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels, bringing back several familiar faces along with a slew of newcomers.

On the Schedule

  • First game: Saturday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. at Piedmont.
  • First home game: Saturday, Nov. 15, at 6:30 p.m. versus Huntingdon.
  • First Southern Athletic Association game: Wednesday, Dec. 3, at home against Berry at 6 p.m.
  • TownePlace Suites Classic: December 15-18 featuring Kalamazoo, Pacific and Hope.
  • SAA tournament: February 26-28 hosted by Berry.

On the Roster

Last Season

  • Rivera was a two-time SAA athlete of the week and was named to the All-SAA first team. She posted 446 points and became the 12th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, and now ranks in the top ten for single season scoring.
  • Rivera recorded the highest field goal percentage (.515) in the SAA and averaged 16.5 points per game. She also ranked second in scoring, third for rebounding, third for blocks, and 10th for steals. She made 253 rebounds, the fourth highest in school history, and 29 blocks.
  • Foster was named an All-SAA honorable mention, ranking fourth in the SAA for steals and sixth for assists. She made 291 points, 80 assists, 50 steals, 99 rebounds, and averaged 12.1 points per game.
  • Conza recorded 309 points, 113 rebounds, 37 assists and 28 steals. She held the team's best 3-point percentage at .372 and averaged 11.4 points per game.
  • Melton put up 195 points and 46 assists.
  • Elder sank 51 3-pointers this season. She totaled 194 points, 24 steals and 41 assists.
  • Record: 15-12 (5-7 SAA)
  • Five Petrels were named to the SAA academic honor roll.

Additional Notes

  • Assistant coach Katherine Frisby returns for her 13th season.
  • Trinity and Southwestern have joined the SAA, and the top six teams will qualify for the championship tournament.
  • First time opponents: Kalamazoo and Berea.
