Rivera, Foster headline women’s basketball postseason awards

ATLANTA—The Southern Athletic Association has announced postseason all-conference awards, and Oglethorpe juniors Keimarya Rivera and Sheraton Foster have earned distinction. Rivera has been named all-conference first team while Foster has been named honorable mention.

This marked Rivera's third time earning a spot on the first team while Foster earned honorable mention for the second year in a row.

Keimarya Rivera

Rivera, the SAA newcomer of the year in 2023, was the only player in the league to rank in the top four for scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage. She ranked fourth for scoring at 16.4 points per game, only 0.3 points per game off second in the league. She was third for rebounding at 9.3 rebounds per game, and she was second in field goal percentage at 51.1%.

Rivera tallied nine double-doubles on the year, bringing her career tally to 25 in that category. Five of her double-doubles came in conference play, as she posted a stretch of four straight near the end of the season.

Rivera also passed two significant milestones this season when she scored her 1,000th career point and collected her 500th career rebound. Rivera became only the 12th player in Oglethorpe women's basketball history to score 1,000 points, and she became one of only seven players in Oglethorpe history to hit 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

Sheraton Foster

Foster ranked top 10 in the league for scoring at 12.4 points per game, and she was also among the SAA's top players for assists (3.2/game, seventh) and steals (2.1/game, fourth).

Foster scored her career high of 26 in a victory midseason over Sewanee, and it started a stretch where she averaged over 15 points per game in January.

Foster previously made the SAA all-conference team as an honorable mention in 2024 at Birmingham Southern.

Postseason Picture

Rivera and Foster were instrumental in Oglethorpe's 79-69 win over Rhodes in the quarterfinal of the SAA tournament. Rivera had a double-double consisting of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Foster scored 16 and added four steals.

The win advanced the Stormy Petrels to the semifinals where they will face regular-season champ Millsaps on Friday. A win over Millsaps would send Oglethorpe to the championship game for the fifth time in the last eight years.
