Five Petrels named All-Conference for women’s soccer

ATLANTA- Ending the regular season with the best record in the last for years, the Southern Athletic Association awarded Ana Williams, Delaney Hanks, Harlow Cregar, Katherine Crim and Myleigh Oglesby of the Oglethorpe women's soccer team all-conference honors.

All-Conference Honors

Ana Williams, a junior defender, played a staple role in the Petrels back line. Her defensive prowess helped the Petrels tally seven shutouts and allow only 13 goals.

Delaney Hanks was a key piece to the Petrels success this season on the offensive end. Her efforts propelled her to third in the SAA for goals, fourth in the conference for game-winning goals, and to lead the team in goals with 10. Hanks was recognized twice as SAA offensive athlete of the week, once after a huge multigoal win, and second after a crucial tie-breaking goal. Hanks' consistent multigoal games have allowed her to be the first player in program history to record double-digit goals in one season since Michelle Parks tallied 13 in the 2000 season.

The Petrels' 9-4-1 record for regular season was heavily impacted by each person recognized. The team found significant success offensively scoring 29 goals and only allowing 13 goals. Katherine Crim led the defensive end for the Petrels, tallying 56 saves and contributing to huge shutout wins where she faced several shots.

Harlow Cregar led the team in assists with five and sits at sixth in the SAA for assists.  Myleigh Oglesby created several opportunities offensively for the Petrels and scored three goals and tallied four assists.

As a team, Oglethorpe stands at second in goals in the SAA and had five players score more than one goal.

The overall offensive firepower and steady defensive presence helped push the Stormy Petrels to success this season and allowed them to end the regular season fourth in conference.

These award winners and the rest of the Stormy Petrels are in action on the road in Memphis, Tennessee, to take on Centre on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 12:30 p.m. ET in the first round of the tournament. If they advance, the Petrels will face Trinity University in the semifinals on November 7.
