Amos Augustus Martin was a star athlete during the glory days of Oglethorpe athletics, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in commerce. 
 
Martin was a member of the Lord’s Club, the O Club, Blue Key Honor Society, and the Boar’s Head committee. He was vice-president of his senior class and captain of the baseball team. 
 
Martin was a fullback on the football team and played in the dedication game of Hermance Stadium. He was a second baseman on the baseball team, where he was referred to as Mouse and regarded as a natural.  
 
After graduation, Martin took a job as a football coach in Norman Park, GA.
