Oglethorpe University

Ernest "Ernie" Sheffield graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education. He hails from Fort Pierce, Florida.

Sheffield played football for Oglethorpe for three years, and served as team captain for the final season of Oglethorpe's football program. He was listed as one of Coach Pat’s outstanding players.
 
He was involved in various extracurricular activities, such as the President of Delta Sigma Phi, President of the "O" Club, the Student Body President, and Executioner of the Ugly Club (an exclusive male organization to promote and sponsor student activity).

Sheffield was killed in action during World War II.
