Loren "Buck" Thomas was a member of the football and baseball teams.

On the diamond Thomas played shortstop. On the gridiron he wore #33 and was a star quarterback. Thomas was also a member of the O Club, the Petrel newspaper staff, and Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
