Oglethorpe University

Otis “Jack” Mahlon Jackson was heavily involved in all aspects of Oglethorpe. He was a leader on the basketball team and salutatorian of his class.

Jackson was a member of Pi Kappa Delta Honor Fraternity, Kappa Alpha Fraternity, served in multiple executive roles in the Players Club, was president of his junior class, editor of the Yamacraw, and captain of the 1920 freshman basketball team. He also worked with the Atlanta Journal Constitution while in school.

The 1924 yearbook stated that while Jackson was rather quiet, everything he did say was intelligent and profound. He was a lifetime member of the Buckhead Rotary Club, who now combine with Oglethorpe to offer an annual scholarship in Jackson’s name.
