Patrick "Pat" Dawson Stephens Sr. was a member of Oglethorpe's first ever varsity basketball team in 1926.

The Stormy Petrels were behind schedule on launching their basketball program, and the 1925-26 season began in the spring of '26 with only a few games. Stephens was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. His son Patrick D. Stephens is also a member of Oglethorpe's hall of fame for basketball.

Stephens and his wife Mary Pyron married in 1923. They had two sons and one daughter, later eight grandchildren. He passed away on February 2nd, 1981 at age 77.
