From the 1963 Yamacraw: The tennis team under the direction of the tennis great Crawford Henry reached unparalleled heights in the spring of 1963. The Petrel netters were undefeated, numbering Stetson, Kentucky and Emory among their victims. Bill Pate and Ray Thomas were outstanding as the number one and two players that year. The sports staff hoped the 1963 team set a new precedence.
