Ray M. Thomas was a heavily involved Stormy Petrel.

Thomas was treasurer of the Student Council and one of the nine seniors “Named to Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.” He was co-captain of the basketball team, captain of the tennis team, vice-president of his junior class, and a member of the Boar's Head council.
The 1962-63 men's basketball team remains the fifth winningest team in program history.
