Claude “Claudie” Herrin was an all-around athlete and well-respected student.

Herrin was captain of the football team but was unable to play in the 1930 season due to an injury. He was also captain of the baseball team and an infielder. He also participated in intramural basketball.

Herrin was vice president of the O Club, treasurer of his freshman and sophomore class, and a member of Zeta Upsilon. He received the “Best All-around" superlative.

In 1930 he played on the local semi-professional baseball team the Dublin Irishmen.
