Thomas "Tom" Seitz attended Daytona Beach Community College from 1976 – 1978, after which he transferred to Oglethorpe University to earn his Bachelor of Business Administration.

Seitz was one of the leaders on the now famed 1979 men's basketball team, running all the way to the NCAA Division III National Championships and picking up 24 wins.Individually he recorded one of the highest career assist averages in program history at 3.85 and was named a GIAC Conference Tournament MVP. After graduation he returned as an assistant coach. He later earned a master's degree while coaching at The Citadel. Seitz also coached at Charleston Southern University before transitioning into administration.

Seitz has served as an athletic director for Palm Beach State, California State University San Marcos, Jacksonville State University (Ala.), and Jacksonville University (Fla.); Warner Christian Academy,  and as associate athletic director at Rollins College. For those programs he oversaw new procedures, facilities, and teams. He even transitioned Jacksonville State from an NCAA Division II program to Division I. In his career he has also served as Commissioner for the NAIA's Crossroads League, president and owner of Comprehensive Athletic Management Services (CAMS), Executive Director of USA Water Polo. From 2012-2015 Seitz was the Athletics Director for Santa Fe Christian Schools where he he oversaw 60 teams at the varsity, junior varsity, middle school, and youth levels for one of the largest athletic programs in the state of California. 

Since 2020 Seitz has been the Athletic Director for Simpson University in Redding, California.
