George “Caruso” W. Hardin was a letterman football player at the height of the program.

Hardin coached the 1926 freshman basketball team and was a member of the O Club, the Student faculty Council, the Lords Club, Sigma Lambda Literary Society, and Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.

Hardin was a guard on the gridiron, and although he was regarded as one of the more gentle men of the team, he was highly respected for his talent and leadership.
